Chrysler Nassau: A Real Chrysler
by: Joe Thompson

What is a Chrysler and what should a Chrysler vehicle really offer?

Well, the answer to this has been revealed during the 2007 North American International Show (which is also commonly dubbed as the 2007 NAIAS) that is being currently held in Detroit. You see, the Chrysler brand has unveiled its new concept vehicle, the Chrysler Nassau and the brand claims that the vehicle is what a Chrysler is all about.

The Chrysler Nassau concept vehicle has been created to have four doors and to take in four passengers in its cabin. In fact, the vehicle has been designed so as to hold the best kind of comfort for a coupe for it has actually been built to be a luxury vehicle. This is according to the descriptions given by the company’s principal exterior designer for the Nassau, Alan Barrington. He does even add that the new concept has got “a more emotional and artistic articulation of what it means to be a Chrysler.”

Barrington even shares, “Traditional exterior proportions have been enhanced with a silhouette that recalls the classic English ‘shooting brake’. This provides SUV-like interior volume with a lower, more roadworthy physique.” You see, the Chrysler Nassau has been built using a wheelbase that measures a full 120 inches. And in the process, the vehicle now looks quite compact compared to the 300C, another of the Chrysler brands’ vehicles in its range. You would also be noticing that the Nassau has got an exterior design that shows of fluidity and sophistication.

To have been able to create such a style, Barrington shares, “In order to attain a more compact appearance, the Nassau has deliberately concise front and rear overhangs, with the body surface wrapped around the large 10-spoke 21-inch wheels.” Plus, the vehicle has also been painted with Mystic Blue Pearl shade for its body and Starbright Silver has been used for its sill, lower portions of the front, and the lower portion of the rear fascia.

Barrington also did express, “We sought to capture the effect of a classic sculpture – an artistic approach with a shapely flowing of lines that give the impression of movement even while standing still.” Indeed, if you would be astonished to find out that it is the line in the profile of the vehicle that draws your attention so much so that you follow it right up to the vehicle’s taillamp until you reach its back end. Boosting the vehicle’s appeal is the fact that it could possibly zoom through your streets with just the right amount of power, thanks to its carburetors, engine, transmission system, and everything else underneath its hood.

On the inside, it was Ben Chang who mainly indulged into doing the design and he says, “The look of various components inside the vehicle was inspired by the design of contemporary cell phones, computers, iPods and MP3 players. We paid close attention to the graphics and finishes of these technologically advanced products, seeking to make controls in the Nassau’s interior that the driver interfaces with similar to what you’d find in the office or among personal electronic devices. We strived to achieve a seamless interface between your car and the rest of your electronic world.”

Now that you know what the Chrysler Nassau is, you should be the judge if indeed it can be considered to be the epitome of what a Chrysler vehicle should be.

620 HP Hennessey Challenger Hits the Streets with Eleven Second Quarter Mile Force
Hennessey Performance Engineering (HPE) is well known for its ability to take fast Mopars--such as the Dodge Viper--and make them go faster. The all-new Challenger SRT8 has just hit the streets with its 6.1L Hemi V-8 and in traditional fashion HPE already has performance upgrade packages available. Despite packing 425 hp, HPE knew that many Dodge Challenger SRT8 buyers would want improved power and performance to make their new hot rods even hotter. Now Challenger owners can have Viper and ZR1-like power in the form of 620 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. (PRWeb Aug 28, 2008)
